Police in Indian-controlled Kashmir say a bridge has collapsed over an icy Himalayan river, killing at least four people and leaving 19 others missing.
The bridge, which was under construction, collapsed early on Sunday outside the town of Uri, about 100 kilometers west of Kashmir's main city Srinagar.
The bridge spans a river flowing from India into neighboring Pakistan, and is near the de facto border separating the two countries. Rescuers are searching for survivors and the bodies of the dead. Officials say most of the victims were bridge workers. The cause of the collapse was not immediately known.
