Bengali Nation Pays Homage to the Martyrs of 1971


Bangladesh President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed paid rich tributes to the martyred intellectuals by placing wreaths at the Martyred Intellectuals Mausoleum at Mirpur in Dhaka on Sunday morning.

After placing wreaths, he stood in solemn silence there for some time as the bugle played the last post. The Chief Adviser of the caretaker government in Bangladesh , Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed too arrived there and placed wreaths at the mausoleum to paid his homage to the memory of the best sons of the nation, who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the country and the nation at the towards the end of the Liberation War on this day in 1971. The President and the CA also offered Fateha for eternal peace of the departed souls of martyred intellectuals.

The former Prime Ministers Sheikh Hasina , the Chief of Awami League and Khaleda Zia , the Head of BNP also visited the Maryred Intellectuals’ Mausoleum and paid their tributes to the intellectuals who were killed by Razakars, Al Badrs and As Shams in a fascist way . Thousands of people throughout the day paid their homage to the best sons of the soil.
