Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed is the Professor of International Relations and a Research scholar in Dhaka University .
In this exclusive interview with VOA, Professor Imtiaz Ahmed analyzes the new cabinet of Sheikh Hasina's with most of the new faces getting important assignments in the ministries.
Professor Ahmed says that the inclusion of new faces brings in promising future but young members of the cabinet should remain careful about the dominance of bureaucracy. He also said that although it seems that some of the senior members of Awami League have not been included for their alleged role after 1/11, the senior and the veterans have still got important roles to play in a vibrant parliament.
Professor Imtiaz Ahmed says that the appointment of women to head two important ministries, Foreign affairs and Home ministries is quite significant. He says that this will enhance the image of Bangladesh as a Muslim majority country where usually women do not get such important state assignments. Dr Imtiaz Ahmed looks ahead to the achievements of this new Awami League government with a sense of optimism but adds that things can only be judged after three or more months.
