AKM Shelley Shahabuddin is primarily a physician and a
teacher. But writing is his passion. In
addition to his numerous professional research publications, he used to write
on diverse issues in different periodical in his spare time. His books
include "Shohid Buddhijibi Selina Pervin Sharok Grontho" and
"Teler Deshey Panch Bochor".
He was also a passionate media advocate on health promotion in Bangladesh. He
used to participate in Television and Radio programs for such cause. He
developed some national health messages both in prose and poetry. Some of his
compositions were adapted for regular national campaign on health
promotion.
After Migrating to USA in 2001, he has continued with his writing passion. At present he writes regularly in a literary periodical named "Probash Bondhu' published from Houston. His recent writings are increasingly getting focused on sociopolitical issues of Bangladesh and Bengali nation.
In this exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Dr Shahabuddin talks about the
values of the War of Liberation in Bangladesh. He recalls the memory of his own
sister Selina Pervin who was killed by the Al Badrs and the Razakars in the
then East Pakistan just prior to the victory in the War of Liberation .
Talking about the BDR mutiny in Bangladesh he says this has been done with the objectives of undoing a democratically elected secular government in Bangladesh.
