A large cache of
arms, ammunition, explosives, grenades and bomb-making materials were recovered
from a madrassah-cum-orphanage complex in remote Ram-Keshabpur village at
Borhanuddin in Bhola on Tuesday.
The Rapid Action Battalion
also detained four people, including two memers on the staff of the Green
Crescent Madrassah at Ram Keshabpur, about 40km off the district headquarters,
the battalion's team leader Major KM Mamun said.
The detained are
Mohammad Russell, 31, teacher of the madrassah, Hamidullah, supervisor of the
madrassah, Mohammad Jasim, construction worker, and Abul Kalam, carpenter of
the madrassah.
According to Mamun,
links of a London-based non-governmental organisation to the madrassah could be
detected.
Referring to interrogation of the arrested, he said the London-based NGO Green Crescent had built the madrassah and the orphanage building on 12 acres of land four years ago.
