India’s president Pratibha Patil is visiting Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. She visited Tawang on Thursday.
President Patil was accompanied by Governor (retd) J J Singh, finance minister K Pul and other officials. The President went to the 400-year old Tawang Monastery.
She also visited the War Memorial constructed in the memory of Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the war with China in 1962.
