Professor Shahiduzzaman from the Departmental of International Relations analyzes the positive impact of Indian election result both from international and regional perspectives . He also talks about the possible impact it will have on India's relationship with Bangladesh's government.
In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service , Professor Shahiduzzaman says that people in India have rejected both the leftists and the rightists and have actually voted in favor of dynamism and development which he believes has been adequately represented by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh .
He says that India, in order to become a regional power and to pursue the permanent membership of the UN Security Council , should also try and resolve all outstanding issues with her neighbors. He says that the election result will have a very positive impact on Sheikh Hasina's government in Bangladesh . Traditionally as Awami League and India's Congress Party are very much compatible the two governments can build up a very strong relationship on mutual trust. Sheikh Hasina is moving towards that direction and India should also understand its neighbors and resolve all problems.
