Bangladeshi economists have expressed mixed reaction to the announcement by Bangladesh Finance Minister AMA Muhit thatthe government has fixed the target of revenue income for the upcoming 2009-2010 financial year at Taka 80 thousand crore.
In interviews with Voice of America, some of the economists said that the target of revenue earning can be achieved if the concerned officials work hard and sincerely.
They, however expressed apprehension that if imports go down due to world economic crisis, it will be difficult to achieve the target as Bangladesh’s main revenue income comes from import duty.
