Police in Bangladesh say at least 16 people were killed, and 25 others injured, after a truck collided with a passenger bus on a highway in the country's northwest.
The accident occurred Thursday in Sirajganj district, located about 105 kilometers northwest of Dhaka.Officials say the bus driver and his assistant were among those killed. No further details have been released.
Road accidents are common in Bangladesh mainly because of poorly maintained highways and lax enforcement of traffic rules.
The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority says nearly 3000 fatal accidents take place in the country each year.
