Mr A Gafur is the executive Director of of American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh. He recently attended the Annual Conference of American Chambers of Asia Pacific Region.
In this exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service he talks about the conference and also about other meetings and exchanges that he had with US Commerce Secretary and Business Leaders. He expresses his profound optimism about the economic growth and development of Bangladesh in spite of shortage in energy and other sectors. He adds that Bangladesh can generate power through coal.
It may be mentioned that the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) was formally established in 1996 having been duly registered with the Joint Stock Companies of Bangladesh to promote the economic relationships between Bangladesh and the United States. Earlier, AmCham used to operate as American Bangladesh Economic Forum (ABEF) since 1988. AmCham holds the full Membership of the Asia Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce (APCAC). AmCham Bangladesh has also been accredited as a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
