Indian Federal Budget Presented

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee presented the fourth federal budget of his career in Parliament on Monday.

India is targeting a 9% GDP growth through government spending on infrastructure (some Rs. 100,000 crore) and social programs such as a rural employment program.

Despite concerns of large fiscal deficit, the Minister asserts that stimulating growth is the main priority, followed by broad development initiatives in an “inclusive growth” model.

Goutam Gupta reports on the story.
