Mizanul
Huq Chowdhury is an IT Engineer living in Dallas, Texas. He also studied
Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering. But on the top of that Mizan
Chowdhury is an artist – both a painter and a singer. His passions include both
painting pictures and singing oldies and nostalgic songs. At the FOBANA 2009 Conference
in Houston, Mizan Chowdhury brought some of his paintings which were ample
reflections of his latent talents.
In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service, Mizan Chowdhury says that he
loves painting landscapes. He does mostly oil paintings because that it is a
durable and convenient medium, given his time constraints. As far as his
fascination for Bangla songs is concerned, he sings traditional Bangla songs
both from Bangladesh and West Bengal. Usually, he sings the songs of Hemanta
Mukherjee, Manna Dey and others. He also appreciates contemporary singers
particularly Habib, who is a very popular singer across generations. Mr.
Chowdhury says that the new generation of singers introduces Bangla culture to the
younger generation both at home and abroad when they sing our folk songs.
