Al Hajj M A Hannan has been in politics since the inception of Bangladesh Awami League as a major political party in the then East Pakistan in 1952 and worked with Hussain Shahid Suhrawardy.
Mr. Hannan was the publicity secretary of combined political parties 'Jukto Front ' in East Pakistan for 1954 Elections .
Of late Haji Hannan, as he is popularly known in Awami League circle as well as in political arena, is indisposed physically and is undergoing medical treatment in New York.
From this year Haji Hannan has started a tree plantation project under which he intends to distribute a hundred thousand saplings a year beginning from 15th of August, the day, Bangababdhu Shaikh Mujibur Rahman was assassinated in 1975.
