Two Schools in Dhaka Close as a Precaution Against Swine Flu, Education Minister Says Situation Not That Bad

Two leading English medium schools in Dhaka, Scholastica and Sunbeams, closed for an indefinite period as a precaution against swine flu.

However, the Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said the situation in the country is not such that the schools needed to be closed. He urged the health ministry to monitor educational institutions to contain swine flu.

The minister said if any student is suspected to suffer from flu, he or she should stop attending school and report to the nearby hospital.

The health ministry sent a letter to the education secretary saying if the situation demands, they would be asked to announce the closure of the institutions.
