Dr Dipu Moni, the foreign minister of Bangladesh, during her trip to the USA came to our VOA Washington studio and she talked at length with us on different aspects of the foreign policy of Bangladesh.
In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla, Dr Dipu Moni talked in details about her meeting with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and with other US officials. She mentioned discussing issues like Trade and Economy, Climate and Terrorism. She said that she has requested for a tariff free export to USA. She feels Bangladesh deserves such special assistance from the USA.
While answering questions about Bangladesh's sweet and sour relationship with India, she said that Bangladesh does not have any bitter relationship with any countries, including India. While referring to her recent visit to India , Dr Dipu Moni said that they have reached an understanding to resolve all outstanding issues with India in an objective way.
When asked about thoughts on the challenges she might face, the Bangladeshi foreign minister said that the stereotyped image of Bangladesh needs to be changed. Besides, there are challenges of recession, of climate changes which are also global challenges and they need to be met.
