Our beloved colleague Asim Chakrabarti is retiring from Voice of America after serving more than 17 years in Bangla Service.
As an avid student of history, Asim’s work with VOA Bangla enabled him to narrate living history on a daily basis.
Prior to VOA, Asim worked in academia, as both student and teacher, where he completed extensive postgraduate work, including several MA degrees and a PhD. in History at major learning institutions in India and the US.
Asim Chakrabarti is also an avid thespian appearing in various theatrical productions in the US and India and writes detective novels in Bangla, three of which were published in Bangladesh and India.
In an interview with colleague Masuma Khatun, Asim spoke about his experiences in Bangla Service and recited one of his favorite poems.
We wish Asim Chakrabarti the very best in his new venture, his new life in Kolkata!
