Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh addressed the nation on the occasion of the Awami League-led government reaching the end of one year in power. She said the fact that her party had a landslide victory shows that they have the public’s trust.
She addressed the problem of the political culture of today and pledged to make sure that there is more positivity in politics and less corruption overall. She urged the opposition party to forget personal interests and join them in Parliament to play their role in building a flourishing country. Unity will lead to a golden Bangladesh, she believes.
The Prime Minister firmly pledged to begin the trial of war criminals as soon as possible.
She also said that everyone with connection to last year’s BDR mutiny will be dealt with. Also, stricter measures are being taken to monitor militant and terrorist activities. She also spoke about the improvement of transportation systems and pointed out the focus of her cabinet to improve the agricultural sector to ensure reduction of prices and food security for the people.
