Patrick S Moon, US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, is in Dhaka on an official visit.
He said that the United States praises the effort of Bangladesh and Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, regarding the trip to India that she recently made. He believes that it shows that Bangladesh and India are willing to enter discussions and sign treaties in order to improve the political relationship between the two countries. This also means that more developmental work will begin in these two countries, and the United States appreciates that. He also praised the successful attempt that Bangladesh made to give aid to Haiti in this time of crisis.
He met with the Foreign Minister and Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh in Dhaka on Thursday. They discussed bilateral, as well as international issues. He is scheduled to meet the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and the leader of the opposition soon.
