Thai Princess Visits Remote Village in Bangladesh


On Tuesday, Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, the Princess of Thailand arrived at a resort built for her in the remote village of Gaibandha in Bangladesh. She wishes to learn about rural life of Bangladesh.

The Princess arrived with an entourage of 48 people who will be staying at the resort at Beler Char on the Brahmaputra River. The entourage includes five other members of the Thai royal family, Chalermpol Thanchitt, Thai Ambassador to Bangladesh, and members of a research team of the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. The Princess is a member of this US research team.

After receiving invitation from Jivita Bangladesh, a local voluntary organization, the Princess and her team accepted it and left for Bangladesh. She will leave Bangladesh on Thursday.
