Industrialists of Bangladesh are concerned over the scarcity of gas and electricity in the country. In interviews with VOA Bangla, Salam Murshsedee, president of Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Sabbir Yousuf, past president of Jute Spinners Association said that shortage of power and gas is seriously affecting their production.
On Saturday, a 51MW power plant will be officially launched in Fenchuganj. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be inaugurating the gas-driven plant. Also, in order to save power, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) banned the daily use of air conditioners in factories, offices, and private homes from 6 to 11 PM.
