Tension broke out between Awami League, the party in power and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), the main opposition party, regarding the by-election in Bhola 3. The date of the election has been set for the 24th of April.
In a press conference, Tofail Ahmed, Awami League’s coordinator of the Bhola by-election committee, said that BNP already sensed their defeat in the election. That is why they are trying to thwart the election. He believes that BNP needs to be more serious about it. BNP disagrees and seeks neutrality regarding the upcoming election.
Tofail Ahmed also said that former BNP MP Nazim Uddin Alam’s motorcade attack on the Awami League election rally at Farashganj in Bhola was pre-planned.
