The Election Commission in Bangladesh has warned both the candidates running in the by-election of Bhola 3. It has asked them to follow the electoral code of conduct and maintain order during the campaign.
The commission sent letters to the Awami League candidate Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon and BNP candidate Hafizuddin Ahmed. This came after the clash on the 15th of April between supporters of both parties at an unscheduled campaign meeting conducted by Nazimuddin Alam, the election coordinator of BNP.
The Election Commission also said that it is thinking against deploying the army as a long term plan, even in national elections.
