Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday urged all concerned to guide the young generation in the correct path through practicing culture.

Expressing regret, she said, "It is unfortunate that the new generation has become busy in earning money by any means. Only practice of culture can bring them back to right path."

Sheikh Hasina was inaugurating the national level programs on the 149th birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Poet Rabindranath Tagore at the Osmani Memorial Hall in the city.

Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad chaired the function. State Minister for Cultural Affairs Advocate Promod Mankin and Cultural Affairs Secretary Hedayet Ullah Al Mamun also spoke on the occasion. Prof Fakhrul Alam of Dhaka University gave the memorial speech.

The Prime Minister said practice of culture would help protect the young generation from deviation as well as ensure their bright future. "The government will provide necessary help in this regard."

About the presence of Tagore in all spheres of Bengali life, Sheikh Hasina said Rabindranath is everywhere in our daily life, including peace, happiness, struggle and movement.

Sheikh Hasina said that Tagore through his immortal writings
including `Geetanjali' projected the Bangalee nation and Bangla
language on the world stage.
