Pakistani police have filed murder and terrorism charges against two Islamic militants suspected of plotting a suicide bombing that killed 11 French engineers last May.
The charges were filed against the two men - Asif Zaheer and Mohammad Bashir Ahmed - Saturday before a special anti-terrorism court in Karachi.
The 11 French engineers - who were helping build a submarine for Pakistan's navy -- were killed when a suicide bomber rammed his bomb-laden car into a bus they were riding outside Karachi's Sheraton hotel. A suicide bomber and two Pakistani passers-by were also killed in the attack.
Police say the two suspects have admitted taking part in the bombing. Police are searching for other men believed to be involved in the attack.
A team of French investigators arrived in Karachi earlier this week to discuss the case with Pakistani officials.
The trial is scheduled to begin next Saturday.
