Leading Bangladeshi author and professor Humayun Azad, who was critically wounded in a knife attack in February, has been found dead in Germany.
Members of Mr. Azad's family say they were informed of his death by the German Embassy in Dhaka, which says the 57-year-old died in his sleep of natural causes.
Family members blame Islamic militants for the February attack, and they are insisting on a full investigation of the death. They believe hard-line Muslim extremists were angered by Mr. Azad's latest book ("Pak Sar Zamin Saad Baad") which was about religious groups that collaborated with the Pakistani army during the 1971 independence war.
The French news agency reports the Dhaka University professor had received death threats since the February attack. He traveled to Munich, Germany, last week at the invitation of the writers' forum PEN.
