The Election Commission launched its pilot project for preparation of voters’ roll with photographs and national identity cards in Sreepur municipality of Gazipur district on Sunday.
A small number of eligible voters turned up at the voters’ registration centers amid downpour to have their photographs and fingerprints taken for the electoral roll.
Some 167 eligible voters’ visited four out of five centers set up in the municipal area and had their fingerprints and photographs taken for being registered as voters. Inclement weather was blamed for the poor turnout.
